Cutting Instructions:
Black on White:......(4) 3 1/2" squares Yellow: (4) 2 1/2" squares
(2) 4" squares - draw diagonal line on wrong side
(4) 3 7/8" squares
Purple:...................(2) 4" squares White: (4) 2 1/2' x 4 1/2"
(1) 7 1/4" square
(1) 2 1/2" square
Make Flying Geese using the No Waste Method:
1. Place (2) 3 7/8" squares of Black on White fabric on opposite corners of (1) 7 1/4" Purple Square. (They
will slightly overlap). Draw a diagonal line from upper left corner to bottom right. Stitch a scant 1/4" on each side of
drawn line.
2.Cut apart on line, and press to Purple.
3. Next place (1) Black on White square in remaining corner, right sides together. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Stitch a scant 1/4" on each side of line. Cut apart on line, and press to Purple.
Yield: (4) Flying Geese units that measure 3 1/2" x 6 1/2"


Place (1) 4" Black on White square on top of (1) 4" Purple square, right sides together. Stitch 1/4" on each side of diagonal line.
Cut apart on line, and press to Purple. Square up to 3 1/2"

Sew (1) 3 1/2" Black on White square to one side of your HST, being careful of placement as shown. You will make (2) of each.
Sew (1) 2 1/2" YELLOW square on one end of each 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" WHITE strip
Sew (1) 2 1/2" PURPLE square between (2) White/Yellow strips as shown:
Sew (1) FG unit below each unit above:
Assemble your block as shown:
