Cutting Instructions:           For a scrappy pleasing look, be sure to use several different fabrics.

Background........................(4)  3" Squares - draw a diagonal line on wrong side

                                                    (4)   1 1/2" x  4 1/2"

(4)    1 1/2" x 2 1/2"

(2)    1 1/2" x 4"

Light Blue...............................    (4)  3" squares

                                                   (4)  2 1/2" squares

Dark Blue.............................      (2) 1 1/2" x 4"

                                           ( 1)  1 1/2" square

Sewing Instructions: 

Make Half Square Triangles (HST) by placing (1) 3" background square on top of (1) 3" Light Blue square, right sides together.

Sew 1/4" on each side of drawn line.  Cut apart on line, and press to blue.                          Square up to 2 1/2"

Make 8

Sew (1) 1 1/2" x 4" Background strip to (1) 1 1/2" x 4" Dark Blue strip lengthwise.  Subcut into (4) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" units, as shown:

Make 4

Sew above unit to (1) 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" rectangle, as shown:                         Repeat process, but note color placement:

Make 2

Square up to 2 1/2", if needed

Make 2

Square upt to 2 1/2", if needed.

Sew the following units together:

Make 2

Square up to 4 1/2",

if needed.

Sew the following units together:

Make 2

Square up to 4 1/2",

if needed.

Assemble your block as shown:

Your block should measure 9 1/2" unfinished.
