Hand Weave Autograph Block
Fabrics:
Please use pre-washed fabrics that mostly read solid Red and Blue. for the main part of this block. Tone-on-tone or small scale prints are fine.
The center block, should be white-on-white, muslin (recommended for easier autographing), or a very small scale red or blue print on white. (For demonstration
purposes we used a light white with blue print).
Instructions are given for Yardage OR Scrappy.
Cutting Instructions: YARDAGE
RED: (1) 3" x 12 1/2"
(1) 2" x 18 1/2"
WHITE: (1) 4 1/2" x 4 1/2"
(4) 2" x 4 1/2"
(1) 2" x 12 1/2"
BLUE (1) 3" x 18 1/2"
Cutting Instructions - SCRAPPY
Use a good mix of fabrics.
RED: (4) 3" x 3" squares
(4) 2" x 4 1/2"
WHITE: (4) 2" x 3"
(4) 2" x 4 1/2"
(1) 4 1/2" x 4 1/2"
BLUE: (4) 3" x 4 1/2"
Sewing Instructions:
With right sides together, sew the RED 3" x 12 1/2"
strip to the WHITE 2" x 12 1/2" strip. Press to RED.
Subcut into (4) 3" x 4 1/2" units, as shown:
Sewing Instructions:
With right sides together sew (1) RED 3" x 3" to
(1) WHITE 2" x 3" strip. Press to RED.
Next sew a WHITE 2" x 4 1/2" rectangle to the right side of above unit, as shown: Press to RED
Next sew a WHITE 2" x 4 1/2" rectangle to the right side of above unit, as shown: Press to RED.
Repeat above process, but sew the 2" x 4 1/2" rectangle to the LEFT side, as shown: Press to RED
Repeat above process, but sew the 2" x 4 1/2" rectangle to the LEFT side, as shown: Press to RED.
Next sew the BLUE 3" x 18 1/2" strip to the
RED 2" x 18 1/2" strip, right sides together.
Subcut into (4) 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" units, as shown:
Press to RED.
Next sew (1) RED 2" x 4 1/2" to (1) BLUE 3" x 4 1/2"
strip, right sides together, as shown: Press to RED
BLOCK ASSEMBLY: 12 1/2" Unfinished
Assemble block as shown, matching seams.

Using a Pigma pen, or other fabric permanent marker, please autograph your center block with: PLEASE, PLEASE use a permanent FABRIC marker that will not bleed!!

I've re-worked this older block, taking out the set-in seams of the white corners. Enjoy!
