QOV Mystery 13                                  Clue #4

Cutting Instructions: 

Red............(10) 4 1/2" squares

White.........(20) 5 1/2" squares - draw diagonal line on wrong side

Blue..........(20) 5 1/2" squares

Sewing Instructions: 

Make Quarter Square Triangles (QST) by first making HST's.  Place (1) 5 1/2" WHITE square on top of (1) 5 1/2" BLUE square, right sides together.  Sew 1/4" on each side of drawn line. Cut apart on line, and press to Blue.  No need to square up.

Next place two HST units together, right sides together. Position the units so opposite colors are on top of each other, and diagonal seams nest.  Draw a diagonal line perpendicular to HST seam.  Sew 1/4" on each side of drawn line. cut apart on line.                                                                                   Square up to 4 1/2"

Make 40

Sew (1) Red/White HST on each side of QST, being careful of placement:

Make 20

Sew (1) QST on each side of (1) 4 1/2" RED square

Assemble Block One as shown:
